1. Our Guidelines are meant to make your visit with us at Kitty Haven as safe and pleasant as possible. While we do NOT advocate a "Zero Tolerance" Policy, we will not hesitate to step in to protect our members. Please be familiar with our Guidelines before you post, to avoid unnecessary post editing and/or removal. At all times we reserve the right to edit or remove any post, photo, link or signature, or to warn or ban any member, not in compliance with these guidelines, without warning or prior notification, for the safety of the board and our members.
2. No Flaming! Make your point or state your opinion in a civil manner! No posting personal information about someone else, ever! Personal disagreements should be handled off the board. Play nice, or you'll have to stand in the corner!
3. Post topics in appropriate forums for easy access and easy of replying (but if a mistake is made, we can move it/them).
4. Do not hijack threads (go "off-topic" from original subject matter) if at all possible. Start a new thread instead. If this does happen unintentionally, we will not go ballistic, however, out of common curtesy, please do not hijack threads.
5. No spamming! We are not your local classified section.
6. Do Not Start Multiple Threads on the Same Topic! If you have already started a thread about a particular topic, please post all changes and updates in the original thread, Do not start new threads for updates on existing topics. This helps avoid confusion and aids in getting timely and knowledgeable responses to your problems and situations. Multiple threads on the same topic will be edited, consolidated and/or deleted without warning.
7. Copyrights/Hotlinking: You must own the rights, or have permission in writing, for any photo you post or use in a signature, avatar or icon. Do not hotlink (steal bandwidth from others)! Out of consideration for those with dial-up connections, and lower resolutions, maximum allowed image size is 500x500 px, 100KB file size! Photos MUST be appropriate for a G-rated Cat/Kitten message board! Broken images will be edited or deleted.
8. Links posted on the board must be appropriate for a G-rated Cat/Kitten message board. Kitty Haven cannnot guarantee the safety or security of any link posted on the board or in a member's signature. Please be careful of any link you click on. Have your antivirus program up-to-date, and know the person posting the link, or do not click on it! Kitty Haven assumes NO RESPONSIBLITY for any damage to a member's computer hardware or software resulting from clicking on any posted link. If a dangerous link (i.e. one that can damage a computer) is posted at Kitty Haven, the member that posted it will be reported to their ISP and to ezboard Legal for violation of their TOU. If any member of Kitty Haven finds a dangerous or inappropriate link, or suspects a link of being dangerous or inappropriate, please contact an administrator ASAP.
9. The use of Signatures at Kitty Haven is a privledge, not a right. Do not abuse it! Out of consideration for those with dial-up connections, and lower resolutions, size of all components (images and text combined) in a signature should not exceed 300px high by 500px wide, 100KB file size! All aspects of your signature (images and links) must be appropriate for a G-rated Cat/Kitten board. If your signature does not fit the above guidelines and you do not wish to alter it, please UNCHECK the INCLUDE CUSTOM SIGNATURE box when posting.
10. At All Times, We Have the Best Interests of the Animals At Heart! Because of that, Kitty Haven is pro-spay/neuter, pro-Adopt/Foster/Rescue, and anti-breeding/buying. Irresponsible pet owners have contributed to a pet overpopulation that has directly resulted in many loving animals being euthanized for lack of homes, and the kittens and puppies produced by breeders, even those that call themselves "Responsible Breeders", take homes away from these desperate animals. If you make posts that are pro-Breeding, be prepared for replies from our members that will attempt to educate and illuminate concerning the painful realities of the pet over-population. If you feel a situation has gotten out of control or has become a personal attack, please contact an administrator or the ezOp ASAP and we will look into the situation. However, just because we support your right to have and express your own opinions, do not expect us to support the opinions themselves.
In addition to the above, we are also anti-declawing. Declawing is a totally unnecessary and irresponsible mutilation of an innocent cat, and Kitty Haven in no way advocates declawing of any kind, for any reason. If you make posts that are pro-declawing, be prepared for replies from our members that will attempt to educate and illuminate concerning the painful realities of declawing. If you feel a situation has gotten out of control or has become a personal attack, please contact an administrator or the ezOp ASAP and we will look into the situation. However, just because we support your right to have and express your own opinions, do not expect us to support the opinions themselves.
11. And the most important "guideline": HAVE FUN!
