Kitty Haven's Signature Guidelines
We understand that people put a lot of time, effort and love into their signatures. It reflects their personality, and they are often pleasing to look at. However, signatures of an excessive size can slow down page loading, cause left-to-right scrolling, or cause excessive top-to-bottom scrolling. In addition, some otherwise lovely and artistic images might be deemed inappropriate for a G rated Cat/Kitten board such as Kitty Haven. To avoid any problems, we have set down some guidelines. Please follow them. We will not hesitate, without warning, to edit out signatures that do not follow these guidelines. The use of signatures at Kitty Haven is not a right, it is a privilege. Please do not abuse this privilege!
SPECIAL NOTE: Always be careful when clicking on ANY links. Kitty Haven assumes no responsiblity for the safety and security of any link posted in a message or used in any signature. Before clicking on any link, please make sure your Antivirus is up to date. Running Ad-Aware at least once a week is also a good idea. It is also advisable to only click on links if you trust the person who posted them.
1. Regardless of the number of images in your signature, please ensure that the combined file sizes of all images in your signature DOES NOT EXCEED 100KB total. This is to ensure resonable load time for members with dial-up connections. Please have consideration for all members in the file size of your images! If you in any doubt as to file size of any of your images, or the total file size of all images in your signature, post with signature turned ON in the Kitty Litter forum and ask us to evaluate your signature for you. Until we have done so, please post with your signature turned OFF on the rest of the board, to avoid the need for us to edit your signature out of your posts. WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO DO THIS WITHOUT WARNING!
2. Regardless of the number of images in your signature, to avoid left-to-right scrolling, please ensure that no single image is wider than 500px (in consideration of members using 800x600 resolution), and that multiple images used side-by-side on a single line of your signature do not, in total, exceed 500 px. Please have consideration for all members in the width of your images! If you in any doubt as to the width of any of your images, or the total width of side-by-side images in your signature, post with signature turned ON in the Kitty Litter forum and ask us to evaluate your signature for you. Until we have done so, please post with your signature turned OFF on the rest of the board, to avoid the need for us to edit your signature out of your posts. WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO DO THIS WITHOUT WARNING!
3. Regardless of the number of images in your signature, to avoid excessive scrolling top-to-bottom, please ensure that no single image is higher than 300 px, and that no combination of images placed on top of each other in your signature is higher than 300 px. Please have consideration for all members in the height of your images! If you in any doubt as to height of any of your images, or the total height of images placed above and below each other in your signature, post with signature turned ON in the Kitty Litter forum and ask us to evaluate your signature for you. Until we have done so, please post with your signature turned OFF on the rest of the board, to avoid the need for us to edit your signature out of your posts. WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO DO THIS WITHOUT WARNING!
4. If your signature "pushes the boundries" of what is acceptable, please consider using your signature only once in each thread you post in, particularly if "height" is the biggest issue.
5. Links are allowed in signatures and you may advertise your site via links and/or images, provided they conform to all rules set forth in these guidelines.
* * * a.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing illegal, amoral or racially objectionable material (images or text).
* * * b.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing viruses, Hostile Active-X Programs or Spyware.
* * * c.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing massive numbers (computer hard drive crashing numbers) of popups.
* * * d.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing sexually explicit material (including, but not limited to, full or parital nudity), or material showing or indicating abuse of any kind (particularly animal abuse).
* * * e.) Signature links cannot point toward any Pro-declawing or Pro-Breeding sites for cats.
* * * f.) Signature links must clearly be part of the signature. Any attempt to make signature links appear to be part of the body of a post will result in them being treated as such: subject to removal without warning.
* * * g.) Any signature link breaking even one guideline, 5a through 5e, WILL BE REPORTED TO EZBOARD LEGAL! NO EXCEPTIONS!
6. You must own all images you use in your signature, unless you have written permission from the owner to use the images. Hotlinking to someone else's site is prohibited unless you have written permission. Bandwidth theft is NOT allowed and could get you banned from the board. Host all images on your own site, or ask us to host them for you. PLEASE be patient in all requests. We are NOT on the board 24/7 and many of us have demanding jobs and/or home lives, so in this case, patience is a virtue that you cannot be without. If you feel your request has been overlooked or forgotten, feel free to "bump" your request thread or PM or e-mail your request again, but PLEASE do not do so on an hourly or even daily basis!
7. If you want a signature image created for you please send photos you own, or have permission to use, and we will create one for you. PLEASE be patient in all requests. We are NOT on the board 24/7 and many of us have demanding jobs and/or home lives, so in this case, patience is a virtue that you cannot be without. If you feel your request has been overlooked or forgotten, feel free to "bump" your request thread or PM or e-mail your request again, but PLEASE do not do so on an hourly or even daily basis!
8. Permission to exceed the above guidelines will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, which would involve posting with your signature turned ON in Kitty Litter Control, so that we can evaluate it.
9. If your signature contains images larger than the guidelines and/or links that do not fall within posted guidelines, and we have deemed your signature as unacceptable, please uncheck Include Custom Signature when you post. Failure to do so will result in your posts being edited for signature removal, or posts being removed, your posts being deleted, or your account being banned from Kitty Haven.
10. Images cannot be racially, morally or sexually explicit, suggestive or questionable. No full or partial nudity, No crudity, No depictions of Abuse in any context are permitted. Images must be "G" rated (or soft "PG" rated) and no exceptions will be made. This is a family oriented board and we intend to keep it that way.
11. The above rules apply to avatars (personal photos) as well.
