Kitty Haven's Photo Posting Guidelines
1. You must own the rights to the image or photo you are posting, or have written permission from the owner. Please do not infringe on the copyright of others. People put a lot of effort into their images and it isn't fair to them to steal their images.
2. Unless you have permission in writing, do NOT hotlink images to another person's website. Bandwidth theft is no joke. Bandwidth costs money, so in effect, you are stealing out of someone else's pocket. Bandwidth theft will NOT be tolerated and could result in you being reported to Ezboard Legal, as well as your ISP. Please host all images you post yourself, have permission in writing to hotlink images on another person's site, or ask us to host the images for you. Several administrators at Kitty Haven have access to the Kitty Haven website and can host images for you. Please, just ask!
3. Posted photos (including .jpg, .bmp, .png and .gif) should be no larger than:
* * * Width: 500 pixels
* * * Height: 450 pixels
* * * File Size: 100KB
Requests to post photos that are larger are taken on a case-by-case basis, and may be required to be posted as an only-photo in an entire thread. However, no exceptions will be made for photos wider than 500 pixels, as this can cause left-to-right scrolling for people using 800x600 resolution.
4. Photos must be tasteful, and cannot contain subject matter that is sexually explicit or morally questionable. This includes, but is not limited to, images showing or implying: full or partial nudity, sexual interaction, animal abuse, child abuse, racial or religious intolerance, Pro-Declawing, Pro-Breeding, or inflamatory political images. If in doubt, e-mail the photo to us and we'll make a judgement. If you post a photo that is unacceptable, it will be deleted without warning. Continued infractions could cause your account to be banned from Kitty Haven.
5. If images become broken in the future, the post they were in will either be edited, to remove the broken link (and prevent a delay in page loading while the board "searches" for the missing photo) or the post will be deleted. In some case, an entire thread may be deleted.
6. Ideally, Cat/Kitten Photos should be posted only in Paw Prints, Rainbow Bridgeand Sweet Dreams and Country Cream, but if some stray elsewhere, we won't punish you. Kitty Haven does not advocate "Zero Tolerance". People are human. Mistakes are Made. We understand. We'll be glad to move the photos to the proper forum for you, and leave a shadow behind, to follow.
7. The above guidelines pertain both to images that are posted directly on the board (so that they show in the post without need to click a link) and those that are linked to (they do not show on the board, you have to click a provided link to view them, either individually, or on a webpage/website). The sole exception, for links to images that are not posted directly on Kitty Haven, or the restrictions on size. If the image does not actually appear ON THE MESSAGE BOARD ITSELF, there is no limit on size.
8. Because excessively large images cause slow loading, particularly for those with dial-up connections, we do enforce the above size restrictions for image that actually appear ON THE MESSAGE BOARD ITSELF. In addition, out of consideration for those with slower connections, we request you limit each thread to no more than ten to twelve images per post. Because we love seeing your furbabies, we have no restrictions on the number of threads you create, however. If you have too many photos for one thread, please feel free to start another!
