Kitty Haven's Guideline to Posting Links
While we at Kitty Haven strive to keep the board safe for all our members, we do not endorse links posted by members of the board. We assume no responsiblity for the content of, or any damage resulting from clicking on, any links posted by members of the board, or found in their signatures. Each member, or guest, of Kitty Haven assumes full responsiblity for any link they click on. For this reason, we recommend you ensure your Antivirus Program is current, that you run Ad-aware weekly, and that you know the person that posted the link.
In an effort to help eliminate potential problems, we have tightened our guidelines concerning the posting of links, as well as the use of links in signatures.
We welcome the posting of links to sites and articles of interest to our members. Education in the care of our feline friends is a very powerful tool, and to this end, websites, webpages and internet articles are an invaluable tool. Unfortunately, it is also an easily abused tool.
While we highly value freedom of speech, we also recognize a need to protect the members of Kitty Haven from malicious programs, Hostile Active-X programs, viruses, worms, SPAM, etc. It is an unfortunate fact of 'net life that there are individuals who enjoy nothing more than damaging other people's computers and/or Operating Systems, or disrupting the smooth running of a message board. To this end, we have no alternative but to strictly enforce the following updated guidelines:
1. Any link posted at Kitty Haven, whether by a newbie, an established member, a sponsored member or an administrator, must meet the following criteria:
* * * B.) Links MUST be in good taste, and appropriate for a G / PG rated cat/kitten message board.
* * * B.) Links cannot point toward a site containing illegal, amoral or racially objectionable material (images or text).
* * * C.) Links cannot point toward a site containing viruses, Hostile Active-X Programs or Spyware.
* * * D.) Links cannot point toward a site containing massive numbers (computer hard drive crashing numbers) of popups.
* * * E.) Links cannot point toward a site containing sexually explicit material (including, but not limited to, full or parital nudity), or material showing or indicating abuse of any kind (particularly animal abuse).
* * * F.) Links cannot point toward any Pro-declawing or Pro-Breeding sites for cats.
* * * g.)Any link breaking even one guideline, particularly 1b through 1f, WILL BE REPORTED TO EZBOARD LEGAL! NO EXCEPTIONS!
2. If you are a new member, the posting of links to websites and webpages in the body of a post is forbidden until you have been a member for a minimum of 30 days AND have obtained a post count of at least 50 . . . OR if you are sponsored by an already established member of the board. An established member capable of sponsoring a new member is defined as follows:
* * * a.) Any administrator, or the ezOp
* * * b.) Any member who has been a member of Kitty Haven at least three months, with a post count of at least 150
3. If you are a new member and have a link to a website or webpage you wish to post and you have not met the above criteria, you must PM or e-mail the link to kalebsmom for it to be checked out, first. Under no circumstances can you post the link prior to gaining approval from kalebsmom if you are a non-sponsored new member.
4. SPAM is NEVER allowed whether you are a new or established member, or sponsored by an established member. SPAM containing links is most definately not allowed! If you SPAM Kitty Haven, or SPAM the InBox of ANY member of Kitty Haven, you will be reported to Ezboard Legal AND to your ISP! In addition, your posts will be subject to editing, deletion, or lockdown, at the sole discretion of any administrator at Kitty Haven. Kitty Haven defines SPAM (with or without links) as any of the following:
* * * a.) Short Pointless Annoying Messages
* * * b.) The repeated (more than once) advertising of any website (with or without links) not of obvious interest to the members of Kitty Haven, particularly if posted inappropriately, or in an inappropriate forum.
* * * c.) Disruptive posting (rapid, repetitive posting to raise your post count or slow down the board).
* * * d.)The sending of e-mails or Private Messages (PMs) to members or administrators of Kitty Haven that are unsolicited advertisements, disruptive in nature, or illegal, amoral or racially objectionable in any way.
5. Links in signatures are permitted even by new members, under the following guidelines:
* * * a.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing illegal, amoral or racially objectionable material (images or text).
* * * b.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing viruses, Hostile Active-X Programs or Spyware.
* * * c.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing massive numbers (computer hard drive crashing numbers) of popups.
* * * d.) Signature links cannot point toward a site containing sexually explicit material (including, but not limited to, full or parital nudity), or material showing or indicating abuse of any kind (particularly animal abuse).
* * * e.) Signature links cannot point toward any Pro-declawing or Pro-Breeding sites for cats.
* * * f.) Signature links must clearly be part of the signature. Any attempt to make signature links appear to be part of the body of a post will result in them being treated as such: subject to removal without warning.
* * * g.)Any signature link breaking even one guideline, 4a through 4e, WILL BE REPORTED TO EZBOARD LEGAL! NO EXCEPTIONS!
6. Links posted in the body of a post prior to meeting the above criteria will be edited out, moved to Kitty Litter Control, or entirely deleted, at the sole discretion of any administrator of Kitty Haven, without prior warning. A PM will be sent explaining what action was taken after the fact, provided you have your PM function turned on.
7. Because education is so important to us, we cannot stress enough that we do want you to share links that can be of help to us and other members. But please follow the above rules in doing so. This is as much to protect you as it is to protect everyone else on the board. We hope you do not misunderstand, or take offense, at our attempts to protect Kitty Haven members. Education is important. So is safety on the internet. Thank you.
8. If you cannot post a picture directly on Kitty Haven, so that the image can be seen without clicking a link, IMAGE links are allowed, even for new members, provided:
* * * a.) Do NOT "name" the link. Leave it as just the plain url, so that we can see it ends in .jpg, .gif, .png, etc, and NOT .html, .com, .net, etc.
* * * b.) Please explain in the post why you are posting an image link rather than the image itself (i.e. Your server does not allow hotlinking, the image is too big for Kitty Haven guidelines and you are unable to resize it, you don't know how to post an image, etc).
SPECIAL NOTE: Always be careful when clicking on ANY links. Kitty Haven assumes no responsiblity for the safety and security of any link posted in a message or used in any signature. Before clicking on any link, please make sure your Antivirus is up to date. Running Ad-Aware at least once a week is also a good idea. It is also advisable to only click on links if you trust the person who posted them.
