Talespier wrote about Sphinx:

Sphinx was adopted from the local Animal Services (along with Kuce - both were seniors) in June 2002. Both have been there for many months and were on the verge of being PTS. The volunteers and staff on duty were happy to see them both go to a permanent home.

Sphinx was the alpha cat - confident, easy-going, friendly to everyone he thought deserved it (including Kuce and eventually Luvbug), quiet, quiet dignity, and fiesty when called for (he wouldn't even back down for a dog - including a neighbors pit bull.) Even the vets and assistants gave him respect. He even enjoyed car rides to anywhere.

He had many health issues when he was adopted and lived longer than what was expected. He had arthritis, grade 3 heart murmur, IBS, a stomach ulcer, and eventually the fatal blow was liver cancer. The vets weren't sure if he'd live more than a year after we adopted him but he lived for just over 2 years. He was PTS on July 28, 2004, due to Liver Cancer at the age of 18 years. It hit suddenly and after 3 days of trying to get him to improve, he let me know it was his time to go on to a better life.

We knew he was hanging on for some reason, and Luvbug came into our lives 10 days before his passing.

We miss you, our dear gentleman. Rest in Peace.

Congratulations Sphinx!!!
